about me

I first started this blog in August 2013 to help navigate my transition from being married to being divorced only six months later. Fast forward two years. It is now 2015 and I am happily remarried, the stepmother of two rambunctious boys, and very recently had a little girl of my very own who we named Alma Risa, or Soul Smile. My writing and my approach to life changed. This blog is now a space to document my everyday life journey in words and in pictures. You will often find me and family outside in the city, enjoying the California sunshine.

August 2013

Dear World,

I am ready for you again.

Allow me to reintroduce myself, my name is Raquel Ontiveros, I am 25 years old, and I’ve been divorced for approximately one year. I feel as though my heart is just beginning to wake up from what has been a deep, heavy, and restless sleep.

The Good Book says a happy heart doeth good like a medicine.

I am ready, so very ready, for a happy, healed, heart. The past year has been a very long one. One of slow painful healing.

For me, the road towards happiness and healing is an ongoing, uphill, journey. I’ve been on this road for a year and I am now ready to make my way out of the valley. That is, I am finally able to see the mountaintop. It may be a long way off but, my, does it ever look pretty. I bet the view is breathtaking.

Here I’ll take leave and begin my ascent. Cheers to a journey of healing broken heart strings.

Love,

QuelOnti

P.S. Oh yes, happy travels.

This is stunning! So excited to follow you and hear more of your stories. God is doing a lovely, inspiring work in you. He will work unto completion, this journey of a lifetime of becoming more and more like Jesus. You reflect His love, hope, and healing.

    Press on, sister 🙂

    1. Such soothing words. You are an inspiration as well. Your light shines so bright I recognized Him the moment we “met”. Phylla House has already offered me so much hope. Reading your blog and learning about Phylla House was confirmation that God has a special place in his heart for widows and divorcees. Thank you, thank you, thank you Phylla House!
